GUIDE BOOKS
An excellent guide book is available on the history and background of the Parish Church. This includes details of the architecture, the Royal Arms, stained glass, monuments, porches, lych-gate, and one-handed clock and was compiled by Morris M Heynes.

Rustington, centrally situated on the West Sussex Coast almost midway between the cathedral city of Chichester and Brighton, one of the most well-known seaside resorts in England, is ideally placed for exploring the district. The whole of West Sussex and part of East Sussex (including Brighton), Surrey and Hampshire are within twenty-five miles radius of the village.
In Rustington itself, there are a number of old flint built and thatched cottages and houses to be seen. Most of them date from the early 18th century, but have been considerably altered and extended over the years.
Possibly Knights Croft House in Sea Lane is the most famous house in the village. It was designed by Norman Shaw and built by a local builder, Robert Bushby, for the musician and composer, Sir Hubert H Parry, in 1879. It was in his lovely music room here that he composed the famous music to Blake's verses "Jerusalem".
Further on towards the sea, is a house called Green Bushes.
It was built in 1915 and was the home for many years of Graham Sutherland, the renowned artist, and his parents.
Nearer the sea was a house (now demolished) called "Timbers", which was the home of the great operatic soprano, Conchita Supervia. A plaque to her memory has been placed on a public seat on the sea front.
The only remaining timber framed and jettied house to be seen in Rustington (it still retains a few rows of Horsham slabs on its roof) is in Station Road and is called Pigeon House Farm.
Rustington's nearest town is Littlehampton, the popular seaside resort situated at the mouth of the river Arun, which caters for the yachting and fishing enthusiast. There is a marina and a yacht club on its west bank.
The International Headquarters of Body Shop plc is at Littlehampton, just half a mile from Rustington's western boundary. The Body Shop Tour is now a well-known attraction for residents and visitors alike.
On the approach road to Arundel (5 miles) from either the Lyminster or Ford direction, one obtains a striking view of the town of Arundel, set on the southern slopes of a steep hill, with its terraces of houses crowned by the Roman Catholic Cathedral, the Parish Church and the Castle. The latter, the ancestral home of the Dukes of Norfolk, is open to the public during the summer. The park adjoining is open throughout the year.

There are greens at Sea Lane, East Preston, Maltravers Road, Littlehampton, and at Worthing.
Indoor Short Mat Bowls are played at the Woodlands Centre, Woodlands Avenue, Rustington and at the North Lane Community Primary School.

AMATEUR THEATRES
Amateur productions are staged several times are year at The Woodlands Centre, Rustington and at The Windmill Theatre, Littlehampton, along with musical comedy, variety shows and dancing.

HORSE RIDING AND RACE MEETINGS
There are local riding schools and livery stables nearby at Arundel and Findon.
Racing takes place frequently at Fontwell Park (10 miles), Goodwood (12 miles) and Brighton (19 miles).

SWIMMING
There is a Swimming Centre at Sea Road, Littlehampton with heated indoor pools. There is also a heated indoor pool complex in Worthing.

GOLF
Ham Manor Golf Club is just outside the Parish boundary at Angmering. The 18-hole course is in a parkland setting, and the Georgian manor house has been converted into the clubhouse.

The Rustington Golf Centre and Course, including an extensive undercover Driving Range, is on the northern boundary of the Parish adjoining the Rustington By-Pass.

There are also golf courses at West Beach, Littlehampton, at Bognor and at Worthing.

TRANSPORT

Bus and Coach - Stagecoach Coastline Buses provide the local bus service, also through bus services to London, Chichester, Portsmouth and Brighton. Numerous coach excursions and tours serve Rustington
