Rustington Parish Council 2019 Annual Civic Thanksgiving Service and Community Awards Reception

Rustington Parish Council hosted its Annual Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 8 September 2019, at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Guests included Mrs Denise Patterson, Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex, Mrs Davina Irwin-Clark, High Sheriff of West Sussex, Councillor Mrs Jeanette Warr, Chairman of the Arun District Council, and a number of other Chairmen, Mayors and Councillors from Arundel, Bognor Regis, East Preston, Kingston, Littlehampton, Rustington, West Sussex County Council and the Arun District Council. 

The Service was conducted by Father Carl Davies.

Following the Service, the now well-established Community Awards' Reception was held at The Woodlands Centre, where presentations were made to various members of the community, both for outstanding floral displays in private front gardens and business premises and also for excellently cultivated allotment plots.  Winners included Georgians Gardens Community Primary School as this years Schools' Winner and Sue Sula who took away the Judges' Special Award for outstanding commitment to a Community Project, namely the Brookside Memorial Garden.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the Presentation of the Parishioners' Award which was awarded to Matthew England (see photograph), in recognition of his outstanding commitment to, and for the benefit of, the community of Rustington.

Special thanks and appreciation were also conveyed to Ferring Nurseries, for the most outstanding service, expertise and dedication, they continue to provide for the Village.

In concluding the afternoon, Councillor Street said that he was absolutely delighted that the work and achievements of local groups, organisations and individuals for the benefit of the community was being duly recognised, by way of the awards presented, at what could only be described as an extremely enjoyable social event, now well established in the Council's Annual Calendar.
