At a recent Meeting of the Rustington Parish Council, it was resolved that:-
“The 2020 Parishioners' Award in respect of an Individual, be awarded to Mrs Sheila Marsden, in recognition of her unceasing commitment to Rustington Museum and the Rustington Heritage Association, by way of her dedicated hard work and efforts to preserve the history of the Village for the benefit of its community and the generations to come”
The Award is made on an annual basis, in recognition of outstanding Public Service to the Community, and all Rustington Parishioners or Individuals from outside of the Parish, who make an outstanding contribution for the benefit of the community of Rustington, are eligible to receive the Award. The recipient of the Award receives £50.00, together with the Austen Beard Trophy to hold for one year, as well as a commemorative scroll, dish or trophy (suitably engraved), to keep as a memento.
The 2020 Award was originally scheduled to be presented to Mrs Marsden by the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Jon Street, at the Reception following the Council's Annual Civic and Thanksgiving Service in September. However, as this Reception has been cancelled due to the current Government Guidance in respect of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic, the Award will now be presented by Councillor Street in person in the near future.
