Rustington Parish Council is proud to have led the way in narrowing the gap left by the withdrawal of the Youth Service locally. In 2012 the Parish Council forged a unique partnership with Arun Church to deliver a weekly Youth Club funded by the Parish Council. This Model has undoubtedly led to the expansion of Arun Youth Projects and their work across the wider eastern area of the Arun District.
Over the past 13 years the Club had proved to be popular but in more recent years the Parish Council began to acknowledge that the needs of young people had changed and that the number of young people attending the Club had diminished.
The Parish Council remains absolutely committed to the young people and children of the Parish but wishes to now explore new ways of reaching a broader “audience” and encouraging wider participation.
The Parish Council has already begun exploratory work in this regard and the budget allocated to Youth Work remains ring fenced and protected. It is hoped that the Youth Centre building will become host to a variety of opportunities appealing to an increasing number of young people.
The Parish Council is extremely grateful to Arun Church for its unceasing hard work and dedication to the Young People of Rustington and wishes all of the staff and volunteers the very best for the future.
