Rustington's Changing Places Toilet now Open!

The new Changing Places Toilet Unit in The Street (adjacent to the St Peter and St Paul Parish Church Hall) is now open and fully operational.

The facility is, in the main, for use by older and less abled people, including those with profound physical and learning disabilities, who will benefit from being able to utilise such an accessible public facility.  It is equipped with a hoist, curtains, an adult-sized changing bench and space for carers.

The Parish Council has been able to provide this facility courtesy of a portion of the £227,000.00 Government Funding that the Arun District Council received to provide eight Changing Places Toilets at locations across the District, namely £40,000.00, which it has itself match funded.

Chairman of the Parish Council, Councillor Jamie Bennett stated that "the addition of a Changing Places Toilet Facility in the Village will hopefully enable people with profound, complex and multiple disabilities and impairments, and their families, to access and enjoy Rustington, with its diverse and buoyant retail centre, to it's fullest whilst being able to stay away from home for longer."

The facility will be open from 8.00am – 6.00pm (1 May - 30 September) and from 8.00am – 5.00pm (1 October – 30 April).

Initially, the facility will be able to be accessed using a Radar Key, although it is anticipated that this may be subject to change at some point in the future.
