Saturday 5 October 2024 marked an incredibly special day for the Village, as for the first time in its history the Honorary Freedom of the Parish of Rustington was awarded to a Parishioner.  The granting of the Freedom of the Parish is the highest honour that a Parish Council can bestow upon a valued member of our community.

The title of Honorary Freeman was conferred upon Graham Tyler by the Chairman of the Parish Council, Councillor Jamie Bennett, at a small private Ceremony and Reception at the Samuel Wickens Centre.

The Award has been made in recognition of the unceasing long-term dedication, commitment and eminent service that he has rendered to the Rustington community, for in excess of 28 years, as an Arun District Councillor and West Sussex County Councillor for Rustington , as well as a Parishioner who has volunteered many hundreds of hours in his commitment to our Village.

Although it carries no powers, rights or privileges, those who receive the honour are able to use the title of Freeman.

Congratulations Graham and THANK YOU!
