The sun was out on Thursday 20 April 2025 and the blue skies leant themselves perfectly to the first afternoon of play on the new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at the Woodlands Recreation Ground
The completion of the MUGA was the second of two projects part funded by Arun District Council’s allocation of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Arun District Council was allocated a total of £1,083,399.00 from the UKSPF to spend on local projects. The UKSPF was awarded by the previous UK Government, as part of it’s Levelling Up agenda and is a three-year scheme ending on 31 March 2025, with all local authorities being able to spend on local priorities to build pride in place, boost productivity and spread opportunities.
Rustington Parish Council was thrilled to be awarded £48,000.00 towards the cost of two projects, designed to improve infrastructure to promote healthy and active lifestyles, namely the replacement of the aged outdoor fitness equipment (completed in December 2024) and a replacement Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and new bike racks. The Parish Council oversaw the delivery of both projects and provided additional funding to facilitate their completion.
