Sport at The Recreation Ground

The Recreation Ground and sports fields have been the focus of many sporting clubs in the village, including Rustington Football Club and Rustington Cricket Club. They were also used by the local Stoolball teams for many years. Stoolball is a sport that dates back to the 15th century, and originated in Sussex. Played by women-only or mixed teams, it is similar to rounders, baseball and softball. Tradition has it that it was originally played by milkmaids who used their milking stools as wickets and a milk bowl as a bat.

Rustington no longer has a team in the League, but neighbours Clymping and Angmering both do.
