The Rustington Heritage Association (RHA) have been busy celebrating their 40th Anniversary Year throughout 2023.

As part of the celebrations the RHA initiated the inaugural Rustington Scarecrow Trail with a theme of "Rustington's Historical Figures".

The response was fantastic and the many varied scarecrows have been on display since the beginning of the School Summer Holidays.

Familiar characters, including Peter Pan and friends, have been carefully crafted into Scarecrow form for the Rustington Community and visitors to enjoy.

Following a hotly fought contest, via a Public Vote on Social Media, the winners have now been announced.

The Winner of the "Individual Category" is 18 Mill Lane who excelled themselves with a fantastic interpretation of Suffragist, Rhoda Garet.

The Scarecrow showed it's own level of resilience and determination having survived all that the British Summer could throw at it!

The Winner of the "Organisation Category" is the Parish Church of St.Peter & St.Paul with their version of another famous Peter - Peter Pan.  Tinkerbell surely waved her wand to sprinkle a little fairy dust onto this fantastic Entry!

Sheila Marsden, Chair of the RHA said: "Congratulations to our winners! A huge thank you to everyone who entered and those who followed the trail, and who took the time to vote."

The RHA meet on a monthly basis on the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Woodlands Centre. If you would like to find out more about the Rustington Heritage Association Tel: 01903 770415 or Email: contactrustyha@gmail.com
